TPV Coaching Pathways (Aligned with Tennis Australia)
Tennis Programs Victoria (TPV) delivers a structured and progressive coaching pathway aligned with the Tennis Australia Player Development Pathway, supporting players from their first experience with tennis through to competitive and high-performance environments.
Our programs are designed to ensure every participant receives age-appropriate coaching, clear progression opportunities, and the flexibility to pursue tennis for enjoyment, competition, or performance outcomes.
Safe Guarding
Tennis Programs Victoria is fully committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all participants. TPV strictly adheres to Tennis Australia’s Safeguarding Children Codes, and
All staff are educated in safeguarding policies and best-practice child safety procedures. At TPV, player wellbeing is paramount, and we pride ourselves on fostering a positive, inclusive, and family-focused tennis community.
TPV Hot Shots Program

ANZ Tennis Hot Shots is Tennis Australia’s official grassroots participation program and the ideal introduction to tennis for children aged 3–10 years. The program is designed to help young players learn and play tennis in a fun, inclusive, and progressive environment, building confidence and fundamental skills from the very first session.
Courts & Equipment
ANZ Tennis Hot Shots uses modified courts, racquets, and low-compression balls that are specifically designed for young beginners. TPV is the only provider in metro Melbourne with a dedicated Hot Shots Academy with separate Hot Shot courts.
The smaller court sizes and slower ball speeds allow children to develop correct technique, coordination, and movement in a safe and enjoyable way.
A full tennis court is not required to participate. Sessions can be delivered at tennis clubs, schools, or on any suitable flat surface, making the program highly accessible for families and communities.
Junior Group Tennis Lessons

TPV’s junior group lessons cater for children of all ages and ability levels, providing a supportive learning environment that balances technical development with social interaction.
Group sizes are capped at a maximum of four students per class, ensuring every participant receives personalised coaching, close supervision, and individual feedback. This small-group approach allows our coaches to focus on each child’s development while maintaining a fun and engaging group atmosphere.
Lessons cover all key areas of tennis development, including:
- Technical stroke development and refinement
- Footwork, movement and coordination
- Point play and match simulation
A strong emphasis is placed on enjoyment and confidence building, with lesson durations ranging from 30 minutes to one hour. TPV offers a wide range of group options, with flexibility for players to move between levels as their skills progress.
Our ultimate goal is to develop strong tennis fundamentals while preparing players for club competition or improving their current competitive standard. Group lessons are an excellent way for children to learn tennis, build friendships, and develop a lifelong love of the sport.
Junior Private Coaching (Development and Performance Pathway)

Our private lessons are tailored to the specific needs, goals, and learning styles of each individual player. Sessions range from 30 minutes to 2 hours, with training frequency varying from one to six sessions per week, with flexible weekly scheduling. One-on-one private coaching ensures maximum improvement by allowing coaches to focus exclusively on technical, tactical, and physical development.
These lessons are designed for players within the Development and early Performance stages of our carefully structured pathway with the sessions individualised to support players aiming to:
- Improve towards club competition level
- Advance to tournament or high performance pathways
TPV’s experienced coaches also simulate match-play situations and competitive scenarios to prepare players for real-world tennis challenges. Video analysis is regularly used to provide visual feedback, improve player awareness, and create a clear understanding of technical improvements
TPV has a dedicated Player Development Pathways Coordinator who works with athletes and families to plan, monitor, and adjust individual development plans. This ensures each player follows a clear, realistic, and well-supported pathway aligned with their personal goals and Tennis Australia benchmarks.
Squad Development Programs (Competition and Performance Pathways)

Squad training is designed to take players to the next level, bridging the gap between technical development and competitive success.
These sessions focus on teaching players how to win matches, applying their technical skills to tactical and strategic decision-making. Players are expected to demonstrate commitment, motivation, and a willingness to train both on and off the court.
Key areas of focus include:
- Point construction and tactical awareness
- Offensive and defensive play
- Match play strategy and scenario based training
- Tennis specific fitness and conditioning
Squad training encourages players to develop their own playing style while learning how to manage competitive pressure in club matches and tournaments. Squads are designed to complement group lessons and typically serve as a player’s second training session of the week.
TPV Squad Programs align with our Tennis Australia Competition and Performance stages, supporting players who are actively competing in club matches, tournaments, or performance pathways.
Cardio Tennis and Adult Coaching

TPV offers Cardio Tennis along with adult group and private coaching programs suitable for all ability levels. These sessions are designed to improve fitness, movement, and tennis skills in an energetic and motivating environment.
Adult private lessons focus on identifying and improving areas for development through technical correction, movement training, and targeted drills. Every lesson is structured around the player’s personal goals, fitness level, and schedule.
Training frequency can range from one to five sessions per week, depending on individual needs and budget. Private coaching remains the fastest and most effective way to improve tennis performance.
