TPV has an absolute commitment to variety in its junior player development, so that the player’s mindset is formed in the largest possible zone. TPV’s aim is to provide players with a learning experience, aiding their personal/social development.

Paul Mick, the owner and Coaching Director at TPV has played at the highest levels on the professional circuit as a player on the ATP tour. Paul has been a master coach for 37 years, passing on his passion, knowledge and tutelage to all levels of tennis players from young beginners, high performance athletes that win state and national events, to producing full time athletes and professional tour level players.

 

Paul is a strong advocate of the 'learning through play' philosophy as in his vast experience, this represents the best learning model for players of all levels to truly understand, appreciate and master the fundamental "non-negiotiables" of tennis, being perception, decision making, action and reflection also known as the 'shot cycle'.

 

Paul consults for Tennis Australia and Tennis Victoria in various roles and loves his current endeavors as a Tennis Australia Coach Educator developing and shaping the next generation of tennis coaches that will follow in his footsteps.

Paul as the owner and operator of TPV has instilled a high-performance culture that is underpinned by high levels of professionalism, respect, integrity, reliability and teamwork across all facets of the TPV ecosystem, ensuring that all students receive the best possible service available. Paul continuously ensures coaching excellence by mentoring, guiding and continuously improving the professionalisation aspects for all the TPV coaching in line with current global coaching methodologies and practices. Paul believes students learn best when they enjoy the sport and therefore always strive to provide an environment that is consistent with his values and beliefs.

TPV has various professional relationship with specialist coaches, various sports governing bodies, sports professionals and support staff.

 

Our expectations

 

Players must respect each other, opponents and coaches. Players must display sportsmanship and be accountable for their actions. Players are expected to work co-operatively in practice and be supportive of peers when they compete. For this reason, the program encourages players to compete in doubles tournament play with different partners, singles tournaments and club competitions. We want to instil in each player the conviction that you never lose until you stop fighting. It needs to be a fun, positive experience for the player and their parents.
